Perth has just baked in its hottest day in two years, and hottest Australia Day in 33 years, reaching 41.9 degrees, in the shade, in the afternoon. Swanbourne, just up the road from Fremantle Port peaked at 43.1 degrees, in the shade. Sheep trucks rolled into Fremantle Port all day to be loaded for export in the full sun onto a stationary ship. What a great nation we are.

It is disgraceful that these animals have to endure all of this, only to be slaughtered anyway. Where is the RSPCA on this issue. How can this be allowed to happen. As a nation we should all be ashamed.

RSPCA WA refer all complaints about such issues to DAFWA as they are not empowered to act on livestock issues in WA. RSPCA inspectors will read out a statement prepared by DAFWA regarding this issue should callers enquire about it.

More proof that the charity 'for all creatures great and small' is only for SOME creatures (those that bring in the fundraising dollars. There should be nothing preventing the RSPCA WA from addressing the cruelty issues on the trucks - should it be bothered. It couold certainly have taken up the matter with DAFWA.
