VALE inspection offer now off!

7/1/2016

Well, it was always a longshot.
Otway has sold the consigment to someone else....and the new owners dont want VALE onboard...what a surprise.
So....yep, will all be up to those independent shipboard vets now....oh and the government (because they are so independent).
And bad luck VALE re the wasted flight bookings! Perhaps ALEC would like to contribute....!
BUT...the real issue is....the animals...oh thats ok, they are merely a saleable commodity.

We will never get live exports banned while we have a Federal Liberal Government

Stupid comment! Neither Liberal or Labor will stop live export. Their policy is identical. Shame on both sides of politics. Australians should be seeking a New World form of politics. One where our environment, animal welfare are priority and an acknowledgement that growth is not infinite.

Whilst both the Coalition and the ALP seem hellbent on live export, despite supposedly representing the Australian people, the majority of which dont support live ex (see VALE poll), ALP certainly has a much better track record in animal welfare. We used to have an Animal Welfare Strategy (introduced by ALP and disbanded by Libs) and there was at least discussion from within ALP ranks about the possibility of an independent office of animal welfare.

Oh and ALP did introduce ESCAS, which despite its faults is better than nothing (marginally!)...and now Coalition attempting to wind it back

Well, that was the only way the truth was going to get out, wasn't it? We can't have that. The RSPCA's complicity can be bought, VALE's can't

It was certainly disappointing to be denied a truly independent inspection conducted by veterinarians. VALE is however, still hoping that the RSPCA inspectors (who, like DAFWA inspectors, are usually not veterinarians) can inspect the vessel.
